Special Service Campaign (SSC) On The Rear Turn Signal Lamp On Certain Toyota Harrier.
28 January 2022 -
Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) has announced a special service campaign concerning Rear Turn Signal Lamp on certain Toyota Harrier.
The involved vehicles are equipped with rear turn signal lamps that use LED bulbs of a specific generation from a specific supplier. On these vehicles, the turn signals using these LEDs are mounted in a specific location such that, during certain scenarios, it is possible that water may contact the heat sink located behind the LED circuit board in the LED socket on the turn signal assembly and lead to rapid cooling of this circuit board.
This can lead to condensation forming on the circuit board that may cause some of the electrically conductive materials, such as solder, to dissolve and be redeposited on the circuit board when the condensation dries. After a small number of cycles, a sufficient amount of material can be redeposited on the circuit board, and further water condensation can cause a short circuit.
Based on the information received from Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), there are 220 units of Toyota Harrier manufactured from January 2021 to May 2021 and distributed by UMWT involved in this campaign. Model not listed here are not affected by this campaign.
UMWT will officially notify all its affected vehicle owners to repair and replace the rear turn signal lamp at no charge to the customers.
