The Baltic Neopolis Orchestra to perform at 2016 Toyota Classics
Kuala Lumpur, 30th August 2016 - The annual Toyota Classics presented by UMW Toyota Motor and Toyota Motor Asia Pacific will be held on 2 November at the Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS, KLCC in Kuala Lumpur. The concert series has been presented in Malaysia since 1990.
Performing at the Toyota Classics this year will be the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra from Poland. Well known in its home country as well as internationally, the performance in Malaysia will be accompanied by two soloist; Pamela Tan Nicholson on piano and Vasko Vassilev who will serve as conductor and violinist.
Another highlight of Toyota Classics this year is a song presentation by a youth choir made up of vibrant and talented singers who will have a chance to perform with the orchestra. They are the Rendezvous from the Faculty of Music from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
Toyota Classics concert series stands out among over 200 Toyota’s CSR programmes in Asia, delighting audiences of all ages, raising funds for local charities and other organizations. With the tagline, "Music that Moves Lives", Toyota Classics aims to touch the lives of people both within and beyond the concert hall. Besides Malaysia, the Toyota Classics concert will also be presented in Brunei, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Laos, Singapore, Cambodia and Vietnam.
“Regionally, Toyota Classics series has raised a total of USD 8.6 million through its performances in various countries. In Malaysia, thanks to the generous donations from individuals as well as corporate sectors, the total donation collected is close to RM8 million. The fund has been used to assist and finance projects organized by various NGOs and charity organizations,” said Mr. Akio Takeyama, Deputy Chairman of UMW Toyota Motor.
Datuk Ismet Suki, President of UMW Toyota Motor said, “Our focus for Toyota Classics donation activity this year is ‘Youth Engagement’ as we believe that the youth are our future leaders that have not been receiving enough support through our CSR programs. Therefore we are inclined to inspire and boost support towards this particular group.”
He also said that two recipients have been identified - the UiTM Faculty of Music, and the Youth Trust Foundation. “Since the two organizations revolved around youth, we believe the proceeds from Toyota Classics will provide good opportunities for the youth to develop their potential,” he added.
To kick start the effort towards youth, UMWT have provided an international platform for a choir group from the UiTM Faculty of Music to perform with the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra during the Toyota Classics concert.
