LIVERY DESIGN

Enrich your Gran Turismo 7 race experience with unique liveries for your cars.

Following the success of GR GT Cup Asia 2021's bespoke livery design competition, artists from across Asia were once again invited to create exclusive liveries this year.

Featuring colourful designs that skilfully bring together local cultural elements and edgy style, the liveries are now available as exclusive in-game downloads in Gran Turismo 7.

  • Indonesia
    Indonesia

    Mighty Garuda (Monez Guzman)

The design features the Garuda Pancasila, Indonesia’s coat of arms, as well as traditional Borneo and Balinese-style carvings that take inspiration from batik, Indonesia’s fabric art.

Guzman combined these elements and gave them a modern twist by featuring vibrant colours, an abstract style, and elements of thunder to represent power and speed.

  • Taiwan
    Taiwan

    呷飽未 Jiak Bah Buay (Makesuregunmore)

In Taiwan, people like to ask each other “呷飽未?” (jiak-bah-buay), which directly translates to “Have you eaten yet?”. This expression is more commonly used as a greeting similar to “Hi” or “How are you?”. Makesuregunmore felt that this is an interesting fact that shows how food plays a huge part in Taiwanese culture.

The artist took unique elements from food items to represent Taiwanese hospitality and cultural heritage. Xiao long bao, bubble tea, and stinky tofu, for example, are some of the must-try items at any Taiwanese night market, and these served as the inspiration for the design.

  • Thailand
    Thailand

    Infinite Logun (Tonrer)

“Infinite Logun” means ‘eternal flames’ and is derived from the Thai Balee phrase “โลกันต์”.

Tonrer took inspiration from his own artwork titled ‘REPLACE’ to craft his livery design, weaving Thai traditional temples into the graphic elements on the car roof.

Notably, the blend of modern and traditional elements creates a contemporary yet familiar Thai design. It is also a nod to the artist’s signature creative phrase, ’The New Era of Traditional’.

  • Malaysia
    Malaysia

    Orang Mawas (Katun Da Funk)

The artist’s inspiration comes from Malaysian folklore, in particular, the tales of the ‘Orang Mawas’, or ‘Ape Men’.

As a child, the artist was told stories from his grandparents about the Orang Mawas’ scary and aggressive ways. He used the emotions and feelings he felt then as inspiration to channel a strong and fearless energy into his design.

It is his hope that this energy will flow through the Malaysian racers as they gear up for this year’s tournament and see this design on their cars.

  • Philippines
    Philippines

    Festive Fiesta (Nez Yumul)

“Festive Fiesta” is based on the colourful festivals in the Philippines known as ‘fiestas’.

Inspired by the elaborate cultural costumes and decorations paraded at these fiestas, the shapes and patterns encompass the fun and free energy surrounding these celebrations.

The colours are inspired by the Philippine flag, providing the car design and patterns with striking strength and valour.

  • Singapore
    Singapore

    Roaring Waves (Ebao)

“Roaring Waves” is an interpretation of the Merlion, Singapore’s national icon. It is a design that encapsulates speed, perseverance, and aggression.

It depicts the Merlion speeding through cascading waves on both sides of the car, and the scales of the Merlion look like they are being revealed under the torn blue paint as it blazes forward. The red lightning adds a touch of Singapore’s national colours, further conveying strength and perseverance.

The design also represents Singapore’s roots as a fishing village and its future as the ‘Lion City’.

  • South Korea
    South Korea

Once Upon a Time (Yongoh Kim)

“Once Upon a Time” is inspired by the visuals and traditional artistic renditions of Korean folklore, with tales of tall mountains, raging seas, and wispy clouds.

An important symbol in Korean culture, the tiger is used as the central motif in the design. The tiger has always been portrayed as an auspicious symbol that expels evil spirits and bad fortune, and often represents superiority.

By recreating the traditional visuals of storytelling in a modern style, the design embodies Korea’s deep roots in folklore and nature.
